Sanjis origins

tumblr_inline_o1wlopdQCd1qzmt11_540
Some Japanese speakers clarify that the word Pekoms actually used in reference to Sanji’s family was “killers” or “murderers”, and it looks like the Shonen Jump translation corroborates this.
While the term “assassins” is fairly straightforward, “killers” is more of a gray area and open to interpretation. It could mean that they are, by occupation, killers (i.e. assassins) or it could be a turn of phrase based on Pekoms’ perception of the family. (For example, the Celestial Dragons are World Nobles, but if you ask me, they’re a bunch of heartless murderers.)
We also have to consider that the Vinsmokes are a family who have notoriety in the underworld and in addition to that, enough clout with the World Government to manipulate bounty conditions – that sounds more than your run-of-the-mill hitman and/or assassin.

How Sabo met Koala and Hack

R: When Koala fell around Robin’s neck, I came to like her (^o^). So concretely, under what circumstances did Koala, Sabo and Hack meet?

Oda: Hm, many people want to know about the life of these three. Once I start to tell you, there’ll be no end.
Firstly, there’s Sabo who was rescued by Dragon when he was around 10 years old. He then meets the Revolutionary Army and learned about the things happening in the world and their thoughts on it. Gradually, he also sympathizes with them.
That’s when he met Hack who, as a master of Fishman Karate, teaches martial arts to children without prospects, that are raised by the army. However, Sabo carries no memories, but he isn’t a boy anymore on a level such of someone who can still be taught something. Taken under Dragon’s wing, he shows great skills in combat and becomes stronger rapidly.
That is when Sabo is 13 years old. A 14 year old girl called Koala is brought along with Hack and joins the Revolutionary Army. (skipping some details) She takes Fishman Karate lessons under Hack and even becomes Master assistant. The obliging Hack and Koala, are together with Sabo, increasingly applied for missions as a team due to their good affinity.
Yes, the order of their encounter has this kind of vibe,. The story is broached in the anime, but I think there’s not much room to tell you everything. Please figure it yourself.

The Training Ground of the CP9

R: Oda-sensei, hello. I just have something I’d like to ask you. On the cover of Chapter 518, there you could see the home of the CP9. This looks like very similar to the east tower on the Jian Xin Yu in my hometown “Wenzhou” in China, so did you draw inspiration from it? I have to ask this.
ugly_pplO: Oh, it’s that tower without a doubt. It’s the training ground of the CP9, and I thought for me, who has grown up in a generation of Kung Fu movies, a Chinese oriented setting would be fine. I assume that’s why I chose it. I intented to take my cue from far away landscapes, but I’m proud to know there live people who read One Piece. Thank you for the letter.

16 Things You Should Know About Shanks

Little is known about what Shanks can do, as he has not been seen heavily engaged in battle yet; however, as a member of the Yonko in the New World, his raw physical power is immense, and is known to be one of the four strongest pirates in the world. Shanks did not fear Whitebeard, the world’s strongest pirate, and even had enough strength to clash with him, whereas some pirate captains quivered at the mere mention of Whitebeard’s name. Rockstar also used his captain’s name to convey to Whitebeard the importance of the letter he delivered to him. It was also stated by the Gorosei that he is one of the few people capable of stopping Teach. Admiral Akainu fought through many men and a fewShichibukai to get to Luffy, but when Shanks appeared, he did not challenge the Yonko.
He appears to be an excellent swimmer as well, having reached the young Luffy out in the middle of the sea before the Sea King could devour him. According to Buggy, as a young man, Shanks was a strong fighter and, had it not been for his ideals, he (Buggy) would have wanted him on his crew.
As a member of the Yonko, Shanks’ name alone commands great power, as Buggy himself proved; his assertion that he previously had a “brotherly bond” with Shanks was one of the many things that earned him respect from the Impel Down inmates. In addition, Buggy did not shy from using the names of Shanks and his previous captain, Gol D. Roger, to maintain his respect among them. Even the fact Buggy was seen back talking to Shanks was seen as a testament of Buggy’s own power to the former prisoners, not aware that the two had always acted like this and mistakenly thinking that it was because Buggy was not afraid of a Yonko. Shanks commands enough power to end the war at Marineford with just words; when he stated there was to be no more fighting, no one stepped up to challenge him, even though the Marines were fired up after the death of Ace and Whitebeard.
When Shanks offered to fight the very overconfident and pompous Blackbeard (who moments before had boasted about destroying the island and taking down Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Vice Admiral Garp after having already killed Whitebeard), Blackbeard declined and decided to leave, as it was too soon for he and his crew to take on Shanks.
Furthermore, when Shanks requested that Whitebeard’s and Portgas D. Ace’s dignity at death not be violated, Sengoku himself decided to call off the war and offered to take responsibility, showing that despite being a pirate, Shanks has earned Sengoku’s respect, something that no pirate other than Whitebeard is known to have achieved.
Shanks is usually portrayed as a swordsman. Shanks was capable of swimming ten years ago, meaning that he did not consume any Devil Fruit at the time when he was a rival to Mihawk.
While his use of his swordsmanship skills was only briefly shown, the fact that he was able to match a blow from Whitebeard with only one arm is a clear indication of the strength he puts behind his attacks. Shanks is also powerful enough to stop Akainu’s magma fist using his sword and Busoshoku Haki. Since Mihawk is classified as the world’s greatest swordsman, and Shanks is a former rival of his, it can be assumed that Shanks is an extremely proficient swordsman.
Shanks appears to have favored his left arm before he lost it, as he is always seen holding his sword in his left hand during flashbacks.
Shanks can utilize at least two of the three types of Haki. Shanks has shown mastery over the two types of Haki he has used. Even Whitebeard complimented Shanks for his Haki when he used it on his “visit”.
When Shanks and Whitebeard clashed with their weapons, the “heavens” above them split, hinting at the incredible Busoshoku Haki that the Yonko had imbued in them.
During the Battle of Marineford, he was able to imbue Busoshoku Haki into his sword to block a Logiaattack.
Shanks is capable of using Haoshoku Haki, an ability that only one in a million people can use.
After saving Luffy from a Sea King, Shanks was able to frighten it off with a single angry glare using this ability. Later, while Shanks was boarding Whitebeard’s ship for their meeting, a large amount of Whitebeard’s crew (experienced men who have survived in the New World) lapsed into unconsciousness and the ship itself began to take damage from Shanks’s mere presence. Whitebeard’s men attributed this to his superior Haki.
Oda mentioned in a SBS that Shanks could have knocked out all 100,000 pirates and fishmen opposing the Straw Hats during theFishman Island Arc with his Haoshoku Haki (Luffy managed to overwhelm 50,000).
So far, Shanks has only wielded a sword in combat. His sword is a large saber with a single edge blade and a large hand guard.
Shanks wielded two different swords during his time as an apprentice pirate aboard Gol D. Roger’s ship and during his stay in Luffy’s hometown.

The Holy Land of Mariejois’ Influence

The Holy Land Mariejois is the capital of the World Government and functions as the primary path which individuals seeking to enter the other, far more tumultuous and dangerous side of the Grand Line, the New World, pass through. This route is open only to persons within the jurisdiction of the law; in other words, Marines and World Government agents. This elegant capital furthermore serves as the headquarters of the World Goverment, the main governing body of the One Piece world. Mariejois’ significance and unrivaled importance is also illustrated by the fact that the Reverie meets here on a regular basis in order to discuss current international events and propose and implement solutions.
The Holy Land of Mariejois shows a very strong resemblance to the Château de Chambord, located in France. It is one of the world’s most recognizable châteaux because of its distinct French Renaissance architecture which was never completed. It was constructed by King François I.

How strong is Sai’s haki?

Little is known about Sai’s powers, but he is renowned as a martial artist able to use a technique which generates vibrations. He was able along with Boo to restrain back his enraged grandfather, although it is probable that Chinjao didn’t exert himself fully as he wouldn’t wish to harm his grandchildren.
Sai_Anime_Infobox
What is certain is that Sai is strong enough to handle and excel against the dangers of the New World, to the extent of being chosen as the 13th Commander Happo Navy in succession of the legendary Chinjao. In the Block C battle royale of the Corrida Colosseum, he demonstrated enough might as a fighter to effortlessly dodge the assault of the combined Funk Brothers and defeat them in one blow, as well as spar evenly with Ideo, a boxer powerful enough to launch a giant out of the ring with a single punch. Although Luffy knocked Sai easily out of the arena with a Gear 2nd kick, the attack was a surprise that caught him off guard, and he was shown to be conscious and fine in the waters right after.
Sai’s true strength is later seen when he was able to effortlessly bend Chinjao’s Haki-coated head (an incredible feat done only by Garp and Luffy before him) and during his fight with Lao G when he was able to both defeat him easily and split the enitire hill in two. After seeing his destructive power even Roronoa Zoro noted his ability and decided to remember his name for the future.
Sai possesses Busoshoku Haki as demonstrated when he coated his leg with Haki against Chinjao and Lao G. He also is skilled enough to coat large portions of his body with Haki in order to protect himself from being crushed by Pica.
In the anime, when defeating Lao G, Sai’s Haki emitted a green flame-like aura around his foot in conjuction with the usual black-skin effect of Busoshoku Haki.

Amazing Oda :-)

The first impression reading Chapter 814 is that the Zou NightGuardians Hideout is very similiar to Rumah Gadang in the Pandai Sikek village of West Sumatra in Indonesia. What do you think? :)

6 Things You Should Know About Monkey D. Dragon

Monkey D. Dragon is in the first anime opening for One Piece, We are!, showing his face for a brief second.
Of all the characters in One Piece, Dragon perhaps has been the center of the most myths among fans, usually concerning whether he has Devil Fruit powers or not. Before his status as a D. was revealed, his possible family connections to other characters was also a major point of discussion within the fan-base.
Thalassa_Lucas_with_Dragon_Photo
Whether it is a foreshadowing on Oda’s part or a coincidence, Luffy appeared in the short Mugiwara Theatre – Monster Time as a dragon years before he was revealed to be Dragon’s son.
All members of the Monkey Family have shown to have a noticeable mark on the left side of their faces. Both Luffy and Garp have a scar while Dragon has a large tattoo.
So far, the few times he was seen in the series outside of Baltigo, there was always at least the suggestion of a storm coming, if not one already there. This happened when he saved Luffy in Loguetown, at Gol D. Roger’s execution, and in Goa Kingdom. However, Baltigo has been shown to be very windy. This is referenced in his appearance as a support character in One Piece Gigant Battle and its sequel, where he can help his Leader or blow his opponents away with a gust of wind.
In the 5th fan poll, Dragon ranked 81st.

Oda surprises us again!

*Chapter 814 Spoilers
xxxxx
So many of our latest suspicions were correct in that the Vinsmokes are prominent figures in the underworld. And a twist..they are assassins!! Now we know what the Vinsmokes are. But for them to be only a family of assassins and wield enough power to get an only alive poster for Sanji shows how powerful the head of the family is. And that also means Sanji has two older siblings who must be powerful as well.
My fascinations from this chapter are:
  1. Why is a family able to have the WG’s and the Yonko’s co-operation at the same time? It’s unprecedented as far as I know.
  2. Why are the WG even co-operating with assassins when they have the Cipher Pol at their disposal?
  3. Cipher Pol don’t seem to be related to the Vinsmokes, Sanji didn’t recognize them at Water 7 or seem to be familiar with them.
Ultimately, just who are the Vinsmokes and why are they so powerful? They’re playing both sides. Perhaps, they’re Black Mailing the WG?

Cavendish and Hakuba

Cavendish_e_Hakuba
Cavendish has an unusual condition, where he possesses a combination of narcolepsy, sleepwalking and Dissociative identity disorder. His inner personality, Hakuba, awakens when Cavendish falls asleep and grants him incredible speed, to the point that he moves too fast for the eyes to track; even with Haki he can barely be seen. Due to this, back in theRommel Kingdom, everyone believed it was the wind that was slashing people. As such, the phenomenon became known as the “Kamaitachi of Rommel“. An even greater example of Hakuba’s speed is that he instantly defeated Dellinger, an executive of the Donquixote Pirates, without even being seen, who himself is renowned for defeating opponents with his speed.
As a fighting style it is not ideal for match-style fights like the competition in Corrida Colosseum. Though he defeated the twenty strongest fighters in Block D instantly, in the end it led to Rebecca’s victory (as she was the only one who managed to see and barely block his attack) as he promptly fell asleep afterwards. It is also not ideal for fighting alongside comrades as Hakuba will attack both enemies and allies alike.
Cavendish has been shown to be able to surpress Hakuba to a degree where he can access his incredible speed without losing control, but only for a very short duration, and he will still fall asleep afterwards.
